Alex Mowery
Cymbal Tech
Alex is a native of Atlanta, GA and moved to South Carolina at the age of 12. He is a graduate of Dutch Fork High School (2003) and holds a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics (2007) and a Master's in Teaching in Secondary Math Education (2008) from USC. His marching experiences include most recently Music City Mystique (2007), Epiphany Indoor Percussion (2005-06), Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps (2005), and the University of South Carolina Drumline (2003-04). He has also performed with the USC Percussion Ensemble, the USC Palmetto Pans Steel Pan Ensemble, and the USC Symphony Orchestra.
This will be Alex's third year with Palmetto Percussion as an instructor, but he has helped with the group since the very beginning. Alex recently taught on Visual Staff for Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps in 2008 and has taught at various high schools in South Carolina including Dutch Fork, Brookland-Cayce, Airport, Lexington, and has written drill for A.C. Flora High School. He has also served as visual adjudicator for the SCBDA in 2009. He is currently in his fifth year at Lexington High School as Percussion Instructor and is working for the University of South Carolina as the Director for the Melton Observatory.
